Sunday morning worship is central to our church’s life. Each week, we come humbly into the presence of our God to offer Him thanksgiving, praise and prayerful submission. In our worship, God meets us as we are, restores us to Himself and grants us the grace to carry His mission out into the world.

Liturgy

Our worship service follows a particular framework, or liturgy (meaning “the work of the people”). The songs, prayers, readings and responses included in our liturgy point us, week after week, to the unchanging Person and promises of God. In the liturgy, we hear God speak and, as His people, we respond; we learn that God is both transcendent (other than us) and immanent (near to us); we affirm that He is Father, Son, and Holy Spirit; we remember His saving work on our behalf; we read, hear, speak, and sing the truths of Scripture. We believe that as the Body of Christ, we are united with all Christians, both in heaven and on earth, and our liturgy is a tangible reminder of this unity. When we proclaim together that “Christ has died, Christ is risen, Christ will come again,” we are proclaiming it with Christians across the globe and throughout history!

A few of the elements you’ll find in our liturgy:

  • Responsive readings from Scripture and the catechisms of our faith
  • Corporate confession of sin (followed by silence for individual confession)
  • Preaching of the Word
  • Recitation of the Apostles’ Creed
  • Communion
  • Baptism

Children

Children of all ages are welcome in our worship service from beginning to end. Our kitchen remains open and available as a “cry room” for parents and caregivers who would like to use it. We are also glad to offer a nursery for ages 0-4. During the sermon, children in Pre-K through third grade may participate in Children’s Church, where they receive age-appropriate, gospel-centered teaching.
