Dear Centerpoint Church,
I’m very excited about the Fall! I hope you are as well. Here’s just some of the new stuff coming up…
Artist Series
Centerpoint is a unique church in this sense: you have a worship leader in Vance Watt who is an accomplished and very talented singer-song writer, producer and engineer. Your Pastor also is a pseudo singer-song writer and is about to release his 9th project. Oh yeah, and Eric is an amazing jazz drummer too! All of us are committed to advancing the Gospel in the Arts sector of Tallahassee and use the musical arts to glorify God and advance the cause of Centerpoint.
New Worship Time and Christian Education
Beginning on September 13th, we will move our worship time to 9:30 a.m. so that we can launch our Christian Education – Sunday School program at 11:00 a.m. Classes will be offered for children and adult alike. Mike and Kim Houghton are giving leadership to the children’s program along with a stable full of other couples. Vance will be developing a children’s choir during the sermon portion of the morning service. Greg Gardner will be leading a nuts and bolts theological class for those interested in going to another level of biblical understanding. There will be a class that the women’s leadership team will be coordinating. David Osborne has volunteered to teach the college students. And Chad and Misty Borgestad will be teaming up with me to teach a marriage class. So prepare yourself for this exciting opportunity to improve your walk with God and grow in the knowledge of His word.
Evening Worship
Beginning on October 4th Centerpoint Church will add an evening service. Help us get the word out.
Of course I’m still working through the Gospel of Luke and enjoying the privilege of shepherding you all. Let me know if there’s any way that I can be better serving you as your pastor.
Pastor Mo
Moving-In Party a Huge Success!
Many thanks for everyone who helped move all the church equipment and supplies to our new home. Everyone pitched in to make the work go quickly and we ended with a sweet time of prayer in our new home. Thank you!!!
Going Deeper
Starting April 19, just after the service on Sundays we’re going to be GOING DEEPER. A sign-up sheet is in the foyer.
Worship Minister Vance Watt will be leading an 8 week class Semper Reformanda: Theology for Dummies. This is an introductory study in Reformed Theology with a special interest in how that perspective leads us to a lifestyle of worship.
Pastor Mo Leverett is leading an 8 week class called Urban Ministry 101. This will explore the theological foundations and sociological implications for a lifestyle of ministry among the urban poor.
Child care is not provided for these first two classes, which will last 45 minutes. These classes are just the start of our adult education offerings and look for future classes that might interest you, along with the potential for child care and family friendly classes.

Budget Update
March 15, 2009
Dear Centerpoint Church,
On March 8 an informational meeting was held to review the 2009 amended budget and on March 15, we held a congregational meeting where the amended budget was approved. Click here for the approved budget and FAQs. These documents and these proceedings, despite showing a reduction overall and in many specific categories of our budget, nevertheless reflect our church's willingness to press forward with its vision in the midst of difficult times. I am encouraged by the high level of professionalism and leadership in our newly revived finance team. Their efforts are exemplary to the rest of us of how to get plugged in and share our gifts in service to the whole body. I thank them and know that you will want to thank them as well.
The steps we've taken over the last number of months, beginning with the staff's willful decrease in salary, the reduction of the full-time staff in half and the overall lowering of our budget are, at least in my mind, steps forward, not backwards. I am seeing the igniting of lay initiative and the clear focusing of our vision. We have the possibility of a new facility arrangement that could lead to permanence and eventual ownership. This budget provides the path for that progress while adjusting to the possible shortfall resulting from a downward economy.
Despite the conservative budget, which is necessary in these times, please know that I will not steward the vision of this church in a conservative manner. I hope to lead the way in radical service and sacrifice toward the church’s mission. And we will see that even with fewer resources, God can abundantly supply through the power of the Spirit, more than we could think or imagine.
Please know, Centerpoint Church, that I am deeply honored to be your pastor, and am committed to shepherding this great fellowship toward a deeper encounter with Christ and with the community it serves. I am preaching at a mission’s conference in Dalton Georgia. I'm looking forward to being back with you all and beginning the process of establishing a more permanent and prominent presence for Centerpoint in the future of Tallahassee. My prayers will be with you during the meeting.
Love you guys,
Mo Leverett, Pastor
